Man and van across the UK
The small end — a room, a studio, a storage unit, or one heavy thing that will not go in a car. Two people and a van, booked by the job.
Not everything needs a Luton and four people. Man and van covers the jobs that are too big for a car and too small for a full removal, and it gets the same crews and the same protection as anything else we do.
What it suits
- Single rooms and shared-house moves
- Studios and small one-bed flats
- Student moves to fixed handover times
- Auction, dealer, shop and online-marketplace collections
- One awkward item: a sofa, a fridge-freezer, an upright piano, a workbench
- Clearing a storage unit into a new address
Collections
A big share of these bookings. The things people buy secondhand are frequently older, heavier and more fragile than they photograph, rarely come with any packing, and often have to leave inside a narrow window. What we need to know is what it actually is, roughly what it weighs, and when it has to be gone by.
The same access questions
Small loads come out of awkward buildings — flats above shops, upstairs conversions with a shared front door, blocks with a lift too small for a sofa. We ask the same short list every time: floor, lift, stairwell turn, and where the van can legally stand. Two minutes of questions saves an hour on the day.
Where it stops being right
Around a well-filled one-bed. Past that it becomes two trips and a long day, which is more than a flat removal would have cost. Describe the load honestly and we will tell you which side of the line you are on — including when the cheaper option is the better one.
Small-move questions
One person or two?
Two, on anything with furniture in it. One and a van is fine for cartons and boxes. A wardrobe down three flights is not a one-person job.
Do you carry, or just drive?
Carry — that is the job. If you genuinely only want a vehicle and a driver while you do the lifting, say so and we will price it that way instead.
Do you do student and shared-house moves?
Constantly. A room rather than a flat, a handover time somebody else has fixed, and frequently two addresses on the same day. Tell us the handover time and we build backwards from it.
Can you collect from a shop, auction or online seller?
Yes, and it is a big part of what man and van is for. Tell us what the item actually is, what it roughly weighs, and whether there is a loading window — a marble-topped sideboard and a flat-pack desk are not the same collection.
When does it stop being the cheap option?
Around a well-filled one-bed. Past that it becomes two trips and a long day, which costs more than a proper removal would have.
Got a small move on?
Two addresses, the floor at each end, and a rough list or a photo. We will tell you what it needs — including when a cheaper option would do.
