Long distance & nationwide removals

End to end across the UK — south to north, over the Pennines, down to the South West, out to Wales and Scotland. Crewed for the distance and planned as long work from the start.

A long move is not a local move with more miles on it. The crew size, the way the load is secured, the timings and the fallback plan are all different — and the moves that go wrong are almost always the ones priced as though they were the same.

Planned as long work

The difference starts before the vehicle arrives. We plan the departure against the hour you can actually load rather than an optimistic one, size the crew for the distance rather than the volume, and agree what happens if the far end is delayed. None of that appears on the invoice and all of it decides how the day goes.

One day or two

This is the single most important thing to settle in advance, and we settle it at survey. If a move genuinely needs two days we say so — a compressed long move means a tired crew making decisions at nine in the evening, and no saving is worth that.

Where it is two days, the load stays secured on the vehicle overnight or goes into store, with an inventory either way. You know which before you book.

Loading for the road

  • Everything wrapped before loading, not on arrival
  • The load secured in sections so nothing shifts as the vehicle empties
  • Heavy items low and tight; nothing leaning on anything it should not
  • Fragile pieces cased or crated rather than blanketed
  • An inventory detailed enough to survive an overnight stop

Anywhere to anywhere

We collect and deliver across the country — London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Liverpool, Cardiff, Newcastle and everywhere between. There is more on how we work nationally on where we work.

Moves that keep going past the coast are on European removals, and storage covers the gap at either end.

Worth knowing

Long-move questions

What counts as long distance?

Roughly anything where the drive is a substantial part of the day rather than a detail of it. In practice that means crossing regions — and the point is that we crew and plan for it rather than treating it as a local move with extra fuel.

One day or two?

We decide at survey and tell you plainly. Distance, loading time and when you can get into the new place all feed it. A two-day move compressed into one is how furniture gets damaged.

What happens overnight on a two-day move?

The load stays secured on the vehicle or goes into store, inventoried either way. You know which before you book, not on the evening it happens.

Can you collect from somewhere on the way?

Frequently — a parent's house, a storage unit, belongings still at an old address. Mention every address at quote stage so the route and timing are costed from the start.

Is it cheaper to move mid-week?

Availability is better mid-week and away from month-ends, which helps with dates rather than with the quote. We price the job, not the calendar.

Moving across the country?

Tell us both addresses and your dates. We will survey and tell you honestly whether it is one day or two.
